Baccarat is a comparing card game where the Banker and Player each receive two cards. Card values are: Ace = 1, 2–9 = face value, 10 and face cards = 0. The hand value is the last digit of the sum of the cards. For example, a 7 and 8 total 15, so the hand value is 5. The goal is to have a hand value closer to 9 than the opposing hand.
After the initial two cards are dealt, a third card may be drawn according to fixed rules. If the Player's hand totals 0–5, the Player draws a third card. If the Player stands (totals 6–9), the Banker draws a third card if their hand totals 0–5. If both hands total 8 or 9 after the initial two cards, no third card is drawn — this is called a "natural." The hand closest to 9 wins. If both hands have the same value, the result is a Tie.
